Terms

Terms of service

Last updated 25 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and StridLabs (ABN 59 654 017 477) ("we", "us") when we design, build, launch and host a website for your business. They apply once you ask us to build your website. We've kept them in plain English; if anything's unclear, ask us before you go ahead.

What you get

For $997, or $89 a month for your first year instead, paid once you're happy with your website (see "Paying", below), we:

  • design your website and write the words for it, using what you tell us about your business;
  • build it to work on phones, tablets and computers, with a search-engine-ready structure;
  • show it to you and make reasonable changes before it goes live;
  • launch it on your domain name; and
  • host it for the first year, including your domain name.

Anything else, such as online shops, bookings systems, extra pages or features beyond what we've agreed, is quoted separately before we start.

How it works and how long it takes

  • Once we have what we need from you (your details, and any logo, photos or information you want included), we build your website within a day. You don't pay anything before we build it.
  • We then show it to you. You tell us what you'd like changed, and we make reasonable changes so it's right before it goes live.
  • Once you're happy with it, you pay (the $997, or your first month on the monthly plan) and we launch it on your domain. If you're not happy with it, you don't pay (see "Pay only when you're happy", below).
  • If we're waiting on something from you, the timing moves with it. If you haven't replied for 60 days, we may close the project, after letting you know.

Hosting after the first year

From your renewal date (the start of your second year), on either option, hosting is $49 a month, or $500 a year if you'd rather pay yearly, paid in advance. It includes:

  • fast, secure hosting with an SSL certificate (the padlock);
  • your domain name, renewed for you;
  • keeping your website updated and working; and
  • up to 4 changes a year, like updating prices, swapping photos or adding a new service.

Beyond that, changes are charged at a fee we'll tell you before we start; we won't do paid work without your OK. We'll give you at least 30 days' notice before any change to the hosting price.

We use reputable hosting providers and take reasonable care to keep your website online and secure, but no website can be online all the time. Short outages, such as maintenance or a problem at the hosting provider, can happen.

No lock-in

There's no lock-in on either option.

  • If you paid the $997 in one go, your first year of hosting is included. Leaving during the first year doesn't get a partial refund, as the $997 covers the build as well as the hosting.
  • On the $89 a month plan, you can cancel within your first 12 months. Your payments stop from your next billing date, and your website stays online until the end of the month you've paid for. Months already paid aren't refunded.
  • From your renewal date, there's no minimum term. If you pay monthly, you can cancel any time and hosting stops at the end of the month you've paid for. If you pay yearly, hosting stops at the end of the year you've paid for.

To cancel, just tell us. None of this affects your rights under the law, below.

You own it

  • Your content is yours: your words, photos, logo and business information.
  • Your website is yours once it's paid for: when you pay the $997, or on the monthly plan, once your payments add up to $997. You can pay the difference at any time. We keep the right to reuse our own general know-how, code and design techniques in other work.
  • Your domain name is yours. We register it for you, in your business's name wherever the domain rules allow (a .com.au needs your ABN), and look after it while we host your website.

If you ever move on, we'll transfer your domain to you and, once your website is paid for, hand over a copy of it, as long as your account is paid up. Your website may need some changes to run with a different host.

Your part

  • Send us the information we need, and check your website before it goes live: you're the expert on your business, so make sure the details are right, including prices, licence numbers and service areas.
  • Only give us material you're allowed to use. If you send us photos, logos or words, you're confirming you own them or have permission to use them.
  • Don't ask us to publish anything unlawful, misleading or that infringes someone else's rights. We can refuse to.
  • Keep your contact details up to date so we can reach you about your website and your hosting.

Paying

  • Prices are in Australian dollars.
  • You don't pay anything until we've built your website and you're happy with it.
  • If you pay in one go, the $997 is paid once you're happy with your website, before it goes live.
  • On the monthly plan, $89 is paid each month in advance for your first 12 months, starting once you're happy with your website, before it goes live.
  • Hosting is paid in advance, monthly or yearly.
  • If a hosting payment is more than 14 days overdue, we'll remind you. If it's still unpaid 14 days after that, we may take your website offline until it's paid. We won't delete it for at least 30 days after that, and we'll tell you before we do.

Pay only when you're happy

We build your website and show it to you before you pay anything. If you're not happy with it, tell us what's not right and we'll change it. If you're still not happy, you don't pay, on either option, and we won't launch it.

Once you've paid and your website is live, we don't refund for a change of mind. That doesn't affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, below.

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled to cancel your service contract with us, and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If the failure does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have problems with the service rectified in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel your contract and obtain a refund for the unused portion of the contract.

Nothing in these terms limits those rights. To the extent the law allows:

  • we can't promise a particular number of enquiries, sales or search rankings, as those depend on things outside our control;
  • we're not responsible for problems caused by services we don't control, such as your hosting provider, domain registry, email provider or other software, beyond taking reasonable steps to fix them or help you; and
  • we're not liable for indirect losses, such as lost profits or lost business.

Showing your website in our work

We may show your website, and a screenshot of it, in our portfolio and on our social media. If you'd rather we didn't, tell us and we won't.

Privacy

We handle your personal information as set out in our privacy policy.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If you already host your website with us, we'll tell you about any change that affects you at least 30 days before it applies.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.

Questions

If you have a question about these terms or a problem with your website, please contact us. We'll do our best to sort it out quickly.
